Teacher of the Year 2019

Dan DeRuyck is the 2019 Teacher of the Year. DeRuyck is a teacher in the Centennial Area Learning Center’s Journey Program, a transition program for students, ages 18-21, with an emphasis on independent living and vocational skill development. He is honored with the award for his communication skills and the connections he makes with his students; for tailoring lesson plans that meet the individual needs of students; and for the opportunities he provides—walking club, yoga, meditation, reading programs with Golden Lake Elementary, helping students with driver’s training, ACT exam prep; the list of his work with students goes on and on!
